When you enter the corporate world, your degree will give you the entry ticket. But what will make you grow… is not just knowledge of your subject. It’s how broadly you can think, how wisely you can act.
Let me share a story.
Four scholars had just completed their education. While travelling through a jungle, they came across a heap of bones.
The first scholar proudly said, “With my knowledge, I can arrange these bones into a skeleton.”
The second said, “That’s nothing! I can cover it with flesh and skin.”
The third declared, “I have the ultimate knowledge. I can even give it life!”
The fourth scholar shook his head and warned, “Stop! These are the bones of a lion. If you bring it to life, it will kill us.”
But the three were eager to show off their expertise. They went ahead. The lion came alive—ferocious and strong—and killed all three. Only the fourth survived, because he saw the bigger picture.
So, the lesson here is : In your career, don’t be like the first three scholars ; brilliant in a narrow subject but blind to reality. Be like the fourth, someone who combines knowledge with judgment, awareness, and holistic thinking.
Employers today don’t just want specialists. They want specialists who can think broadly—professionals who can connect dots, anticipate risks, and create solutions that make sense in the real world.
So, as future-ready professionals, remember: Your subject is your strength, but your growth will come from wisdom, perspective, and the ability to see the whole picture.
